Frequently Asked Questions

When do you meet?

We have workdays every Monday and Wednesday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in room 301. Only the chapter meetings are mandatory though, which are held on every 2nd Wednesday of each month. We will send Remind messages before chapter meetings, so you should join @duluthtsa.

Can I join in the middle of the year?

Of course! We always love getting new members. Just make sure to pay the club dues on MyPaymentsPlus.

How much does it cost to be a member?

Membership dues are $40, which help pay for shirts, state, and national registration. Conferences can be costly due to hotels, registration, and other expenses; but don't worry, we do fundraising throughout the year.

I don't know much about technology, can I still participate?

Even though we are a technology-based club, our main goal is to build fundamental skills for life outside of high school. We have a wide range of competitions from essays and speeches to fashion design and children's book illustrating.

What do conferences look like?

Most of our conferences are held overnight which have general leadership sessions and competitions spread over multiple days. You may not always have something on your schedule. During downtime, you're free to explore the city!

What type of service do you do?

You will be able to participate in numerous service events throughout the year. We will be partnering up with local businesses and other clubs to bring a diverse array of opportunities. While it is not mandatory, it is expected that you will participate in at least one event per semester.

What is the time requirement?

With an ever-growing student population, TSA is a very competitive organization. The number of competitions you participate in, and the amount of time spent on them, is up to you. We offer 4 hours a week to work on projects, although you may need to spend additional hours to perfect everything.

What is VEX?

VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) is a subsidiary of TSA. Schools around the world design, build, and program robots to complete a series of tasks in a 2v2 tournament. Our VEX members are hardworking and dedicated. Learn more at vexrobotics.com.
